Hooray for Rosé

Jessica Wagner

Waffle-Knit Hoodie

Hip-hip hooray for this adorable top featuring my favorite treat!

I picked up this rosé-loving sweatshirt on my weekly trip to Target. You guys - it was waiting for me on the sale rack! It’s full price online, but in store it’s marked half off.  (Yes way!) So, I had to!

You know the weather is being *extra * because all I want to do is snuggle up in this waffle-knit hoodie. Did you catch last week’s post? Keeping warm and looking cute is easy in a statement top. I got mine in an XS and would say it fits true to size.

I can’t tell you the last time I bought a hoodie. While it’s a casual look, this one gave me all the feminine feels, plus it’s ultra soft (go check your Target sale rack this week!) and then stay inside and hide from the cold in your darling top and rosé all day. It's joyous with a cheeky attitude.

Coco happened to have on her favorite pink hoodie too and wanted her picture taken, so here we are! She calls that foot kick her "blogger pose." Haha.

I was feeling the laid-back look and paired mine with distressed ‘girlfriend’ jeans. The ‘girlfriend’ jean!! I love! They are made to be more flattering than the baggier ‘boyfriend’ jean, which I find harder to style since I am not particularly tall, but still like to achieve that un-done tomboy look.

I also dolled up my faves - the Stan Smith sneaker - with blush pink satin laces. The laces came in a three pack from Aldo, (pink, black and white) and have little gold metal ends! I’m all about that gold detail. This is such a simple way to add a glimmer of color. I couldn’t find a similar brand of laces to link for you guys, so if I come across more I will be sure to share. (I found some on Amazon but they didn’t have great reviews.)

All this talk about rosé is making me thirsty….  I have three words for you: hooray for rosé!

Do you guys like rosé? What’s your favorite wine? Red, white, pink, bubbles all of the above?!

Red Leather Jacket

Jessica Wagner

How To Dress Like A Badass #Girlboss

A bold leather jacket in a bright fun color is the answer to every cool weather occasion. With Spring around the corner it's time to lighten up your wardrobe with a cheery layer that packs a punch. Look no further than the classic red leather jacket.

I love this faux one from Express (on MAJOR SALE!) for it's play on masculine/feminine. With a high femme fit and contrasting masculine side buckles, this color block jacket is the perfect mix of modern ladylike badass style. The dark red-on-bright red make for an ultra-cool look that radiates confidence.

When searching for one of your own, look for a style is that classic and functional. A good fit is a must, and avoid anything too tight in the arms! Vegan options are plentiful and usually better for your budget.

Unspoken Rules of Being A Badass Girl Boss:

1. First rule of being a badass girl boss: A badass girl boss does not talk about being a badass girlboss. Period.

2. Second rule of being a badass girl boss: wear a red leather jacket.

Ok babes (and badass girl bosses!) Get out there and enjoy this lovely weather! And don't forget your leather jacket.

***BTW, what are your feelings on the term "#girlboss?" I love this post on the matter by A Cup of Jo. Do you see it as rejoicing in being female? The creating of a cool, empowering club of smart brilliant women that we are all invited to join? Or is the term, "be a boss not a #girlboss?" more powerful?

I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Back to Black

Jessica Wagner

How To Wear All Black

All black outfitting is fashion-y in any season, but the moment the temps start to cool down, I immediately turn to my black basics.  As follows: leather jacket, ankle boots, plain tee, faded skinny jeans.

The key to this look is interesting textures, structure, and lines. These elements will create contrast for a striking style. Use your knit sweaters, sheer airy tops and velvet anything (at least this season anyway.)

All black outfitting can be the ultimate rocker girl style, or effortlessly chic (Audrey Hepburn.) Black is sliming. Black looks good on all skin tones and with all hair colors. Try to avoid looking boring AKA head to toe cotton, by balancing fabrics and an intermixture of accessories. Add a swipe of bold lip color; loop a belt around your waist to keep a figure.

A cool weather winner, black is always the classiest. For this look I went for a slenderizing silhouette with lots of leather to contrast the full skirt and pleated sophistication. The high waist could also be styled with a flirty crop top and squared off heels or you could give this party profile an edge with shiny moto boots and a graphic tee, or keep it sweet with an oversized sweater.

This faux leather jacket is new and quickly becoming one of my go-to favorites. A leather jacket is an every-girl wardrobe basic. I love how this one has lots of texture in the shoulders and back with the ribbed details and zips.

As for the backpack, I’ve wanted one for while and chose this style for it’s medium size, simple structure, and top handle carrying option. The straps are adjustable, and it’s so nice to sling it over my shoulders and not think about it again. (Especially going anywhere with the kiddos.)

Whether you are a color-lover, minimalist, or a true too-cool-for-color-pro, it’s ok to go a little Goth once in while. Charming or dark and moody, Wednesday Adams or Coco Chanel, all black is anything but basic. So get out here and be a little ray of pitch black.
