Statement Sleeves

Jessica Wagner

Floral Romper

Hello Spring! Bring on all the poetic dreamy pieces. The more lightweight and floral the better.

Super sleeves have been making a play in the fashion world since SS17 Fashion Week. (Dare I label them the fashion focus of 2017?) Runway designers all seem to agree on this one major trend: a reference to a frilly romantic period, reworked for the modern era.

Big sleeves are fun way to play up a basic top and add major interest to any outfit. Not only are they utterly chic, they also have a flirty vibe that works when giving off an airy stylish flair.

Heading somewhere warm for Spring break? This bell-sleeved one-and-done romper is for you. Modern and romantic - the cutest little vacay outfit that you ever did see.

Regardless of the season or location, feminine pieces always seem to find a way into my wardrobe (and become my instant favorite.) It’s the little details - a touch of lace, a super soft pale color, or a ladylike silhouette that captures my romantic’s heart. Somehow it all feels extra appropriate come springtime sunshine and blooming gardens.

I’ve been waiting for the chance to carry my coveted Cult Gaia bamboo handbag, (this blogger-favorite sells out all the time) –and it’s everything. With ideals based on femininity, Cult Gaia is a brand inspired by nature, old Hollywood and the ancient Greek goddess of Mother Earth. I love a classic show-stopping piece, and this one you can wear all spring/summer long. The design was inspired by a real vintage Japanese style bag, and is every bit whimsical as it is instagram worthy.

This Spring, why not add a little drama in your wardrobe? Anyone can wear this style. Puffed, bell-shaped, flared, ruffled, or just plain oversize, the choice is yours. Keep the rest of your outfit simple with relaxed denim and easy accessories. Exaggerated wrists pair surprisingly well with the likes of bamboo bags, straw hats, and mod-retro sunnies. Structure in your other pieces will counter the extra volume.

With the temps on the rise, now is the time for florals, ruffles, and statement sleeves galore!

I wish you a {springy} sunshine filled weekend!

All Occasion Dress

Anthropologie: Madera Maxi Dress by Bhanuni

Every wardrobe should have one go-to lush, detail-rich dress. Think of it as a secret weapon for those spontaneous special events.

It’s great when you have the time to search out that perfect party outfit, but sometimes you only have a few hours notice. The solution is having an all-occasion dress on hand, one that works in any season and can be worn to multiple events.

When searching for a swoon-worthy gown, look for thoughtful touches that make the dress unique. Maybe it’s elaborate in structure or decoration. Perhaps it’s made of an unusual fabric, color or print.

The obstacle when shopping for an elegant dress is being able to weigh price verse wear-ability.

So, while there is no way that magnificent dress is going to get the same airtime as your favorite pair of jeans - hear me out- jeans on the rare, are truly magnifiqué! A gorgeous frock is probably going to take a dip into your clothes budget, so make it worth the investment. When you find something that meets your criteria, and makes you feel like a million, splurge. That's what makes it "special." Choose a dress you would wear traveling Europe, attending a up-scale cocktail event, or even to mark an unremarkable day! There's always a reason to celebrate, so find "the one you can't live without" and wear it every chance you get.

I have a few scrumptious dresses (mostly from weddings) that I wish I could wear all the time but they are just too romantic for a typical night out. I love this particular Anthropologie dress for it's fancy-boho style. This is an all-occasion dress that can be just as gorgeous dressed up with heels and accessories (wedding) or dressed down with a casual denim jacket and ankle boots (date night.)

It’s memorable in its vibrant colors and lovely print, but not so much that it couldn’t be worn to multiple affairs. This dress is even more exquisite in person. The upper bodice is adorned with detailed sequins, delicate beading, and dainty rosettes. The empire waist and tiered full skirt are perfect for formal events in early fall, spring and summer. It’s really a light soft fabric and the dark turquoise against the pale blues and oxblood reds give it garden party appeal.

In this particular stage in life, weddings are what come to mind when I think of occasion dressing. As a guest as you want to spiff it up, but you don’t want to out-shine the bride (or wedding party.) Wearing white is out of the question and black can be a snooze-fest. So just how fancy should one go?

Coming from a girl who likes to go glam, when in doubt, opt for elegance. Being well dressed is a beautiful form of politeness.

Endless Summer

Jessica Wagner

SWIM WEAR: PART TWO

Happy 3-day weekend! I can't believe August is over. We are lake-bound to soak up every last minute of the warm weather. There are plenty of sunny days ahead, which means ample opportunity to show off that end of summer glow.

As follow-up to this post on how to find that perfect suit, I’m going to say so long to summer by breaking down a few more beloved swim styles. (Be sure to check out Part One.) These suggestions will have you feeling covered and confident as ever when it comes time to strip down.

COLORBLOCK

COLORBLOCK: Retro, sophisticated, mod.
This is a style-statement maker for sure. Anyone on the hunt for a fashion suit, this is the look for you. The colorblock combo, is a classic in a preppy nautical way. This particular suit is feminine, in the blush/navy merger and high halter neckline. While it does not offer much support up top, it does allow full tummy coverage. The high waist is retro, the neckline mod, and the cut-out strappy back keeps things contemporary. The mailott style is always a long, leggy thigh-slimmer. A sophisticated option for whenever and whatever - sailing, sunning or sipping mimosas, this suit is ready for just about every H2O activity.

GINGHAM

GINGHAM: Darling, dreamy, youthful.
Gingham is literally the cutest summer trend (ever.) A nod to the 1960s bombshell, vintage inspired beachwear is for the timeless babe. This charming pink gingham two piece and low-rise bottoms are the ultimate for a girlie Bardot look. Flirty and summer-perfect, gingham print is fresher than ever. Equal parts cool and confident, sweet and retro. Accent this classic with girlie counterparts, like straw hats, bows and cat eye sunnies. Bikini bottoms with thick ruche side details allow beach booty coverage. Strut your stuff in this style, but be prepared for some major head turning (as I’m pretty sure this push-up style adds about 1 cup size.)

SURF

SURF: Active, feminine, protective.
DUDE, the minute I entered this little boardwalk surf shop in Ocean City, I knew this rashie was meant to be mine. <3 I mean doesn’t this just scream ballerina/surf chic? Plus, a femme rash guard is way cuter than sunburn. These particular bottoms are excellent for surfing, and sit straight and low at the hips. Bonus: they are also a two-in-one, reverse stripe print (sadly, I do not have photos, I forgot to make the switch!) Not to mention, the dark floral print is as seductive as those black sand Hawaiian beaches. A long sleeve swim shirt lets you avoid sunburn and chafing while remaining highly fashionable while in extended exposure to the sun. Warm, comfortable and figure flattering, you really can’t lose with this UV protector. Surfs up babe, you’re ready to play all day underneath that hot summer sun.
